Where is your mission statement written?
If you thought of a plaque in the office or a piece of paper you've just flunked out. You wasted the money and time spent building the thing in the first place. If YOU don't know your mission statement by HEART (all caps) how do you expect the employees or clients to know it?
If you do not have a mission statement, perhaps now is the time to figure it out. In another article I write about the importance of knowing your brand. It begins with who you are, what you provide, and how you do so.
Big companies spend BIG dollars defining their core values and staying on track. That's what CEOs and boards do; they are like the captain steering the ship by the stars, compass, and map. In a small company you may be CEO, board, HR, PR, and everything rolled into one.
Using the tools at hand to define your core values and goals, put them into a format you can spout off, and measure daily is invaluable in maximizing your productivity and achieving peace of mind. These resources are available in abundance on the web and in book stores.
